San Diego Generations of the Shoah is comprised of approximately 100 local descendants (children and grandchildren) of Holocaust Survivors.

Our Mission is to Never Forget our family members who perished in the Holocaust, and those who survived the Holocaust, by actively supporting Holocaust awareness, education and philanthropy.

We carry on the tradition of our parents and grandparents who formed the New Life Club in 1953 to share their experiences and celebrate the new lives that they built in San Diego after the Shoah. The New Life Club became an extended family that celebrated life-cycle events together.  As a way of honoring lost family and educating future generations, they held a community wide Holocaust Memorial Service.  Some members wrote books about their experiences and gave public testimony in San Diego around the country.

As we, the children of the Survivors became adults, we formed San Diego Generations of the Shoah (SDGS).  We aim to ensure continuing awareness of the Holocaust by, among other things, teaching about the history of the Jewish Presence in San Diego and providing Holocaust education through the Butterfly Project (in San Diego, and beyond), as well as multiple additional efforts.

Additionally, we have many fun social activities!  Including: Bunco, Book Club, Yiddish Club, Parties, Cooking Events and more!
